Constipation on a GLP-1. What helps.

  • Drink more water across the day; GLP-1s make it easy to forget.
  • Add fiber slowly: beans, berries, vegetables, chia or oats.
  • A 10-minute walk after meals helps things move.
  • Ask a pharmacist about a gentle fiber supplement or stool softener.

Call your doctor if: You haven't had a bowel movement in several days, or you have severe pain or bloating.

Don't change or skip a dose on your own. If side effects are hard to live with, ask your prescriber; they can adjust your plan.

Get urgent care for severe stomach pain that won't go away (it may spread to your back), vomiting so you can't keep fluids down, fainting, signs of an allergic reaction, or a lump or swelling in your neck.

General self-care, based on the 2025 GLP-1 nutrition advisory and the medicines' patient information. Not medical advice.
