Side effects

Nausea on a GLP-1. What helps.

  • Eat smaller meals and stop at the first sign of fullness.
  • Choose bland, lower-fat foods; skip greasy, fried and very sweet foods for now.
  • Sip water or other clear drinks through the day. Cold drinks are often easier.
  • Eat slowly, and don't lie down right after eating.

Call your doctor if: Nausea lasts more than a day or two, or you can't eat or drink enough.

Don't change or skip a dose on your own. If side effects are hard to live with, ask your prescriber; they can adjust your plan.

Get urgent care for severe stomach pain that won't go away (it may spread to your back), vomiting so you can't keep fluids down, fainting, signs of an allergic reaction, or a lump or swelling in your neck.

General self-care, based on the 2025 GLP-1 nutrition advisory and the medicines' patient information. Not medical advice.
